Facebook will remove the age limit users

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, again a controversial comments on social networking-related services. Last year, he called privacy is no longer so important. This time, he proposed the elimination of age restrictions for the user up. That is, infants who are still allowed to make that red is on Facebook. As is known, the minimum age is 13 years pegguna ups. However, from a study that was released some time ago, there were 7.5 million Facebook users who are under 13 years, generally 11 years. But surely this can not be used as an excuse to open the taps for those who are under the age of 13. Children are certainly not able to protect themselves from a variety of matters relating to the world of adults who come to his Facebook page.

Mark Zuckerberg expressed his idea in a speech in California the opportunity a few days ago. According to him, he has a philosophy that education takes time to start very young. Because of restrictions that make the children under the age of 13 years have not been able to get started. By allowing them to use up, we can see what they would do. Mark also promised to make children safe on Facebook. Of course, there is a slow down of Mark Zuckerberg this reason. First, the issue of education. Certainly can not be considered that use up since the children regarded as educational. Why? Therefore, up is not the education space. Facebook is a media where information traffic through status updates, photos, videos, and even very high. Most of the information that flows up this is the consumption of adults, not children

Second, security concerns. This needs to be questioned, up user account security is very low. User privacy on Facebook is very low, almost non-existent because the privacy policy is very loose because of privacy provisions ups convoluted and very long. Some Facebook users will be very familiar with spam, scams, and other URLs that lead to adult content. It would be very dangerous if the children left to see all this. Still related to security issues, on Facebook is not a single guarantee which says that all users of Facebook will be applied to both. That is, once open the possibility of criminals, especially predators of children, to be able to find prey with the permissibility of the children to create an account on Facebook.

Third, the regulations prohibit the collection of information from children under the age of 13, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which was signed into law on October 21, 1998 and amended effective on April 21, 2000. This rule applies to commercial websites and online services directed to children under 13 years of collecting personal information from children. COPPA prohibits unfair or deceptive acts or practices in connection with the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information from and about children on the internet. With the three reasons above, it is quite clear that the idea of abolition of the age limit up users this is a pretty crazy idea from Mark Zuckerberg. Site zdnet.com mention this idea as the worst idea of the caliber of Mark Zuckerberg. Although could just try to improve security, this is not a guarantee and a reason to legalize the elimination of age restrictions on users.

In relation to children or teenagers over the age of 13 years even, parents are still encouraged to see the involvement of children in the above. This is because, once again, to help users to get connected with their online friends, but not necessarily all online users who are friends. To monitor the involvement of children on up, parents are advised to perform the following steps.

1. monitor your child's facebook account
Parents should be involved in the friendship of children. It is important to be able to find out what the child is on Facebook. If you can not, for example for high school teens, watch them from their friends. This is done by 18 percent of parents in surveys to users between the ages of 13-17. Parents should not try to create an account with a fake age children. If the child has made Facebok account without the knowledge, delete that account or ask for up to remove it by filling out the report "Report of Children under the age of" provided by Facebook.

2. advantage of privacy controls
About one in five active adult users said they did not use the privacy controls that are provided to. This makes them more vulnerable to threats. personal control in order not to prevent any violations, but they are quite helpful in some degree. Parents should regulate children's personal control of what can be seen by all users up. For example, photographs of those who can see and anyone who could send a message.

3. turn off instant personalization
Facebook has added a few sites for Instant Personalization feature, which automatically will find information about the characteristics of Facebook users. I highly recommend this feature will be turned off for up user profiles are not exploited by third parties for advertising and other purposes. For parents, it is important to observe the activities of children up to avoid the problems that arise in the future, such as the abduction of children and others. Up useful, but only within certain limits. Better to prevent than disaster.

The researchers also did stage selection by selecting 40 samples to be analyzed fully in the laboratory. In the study, researchers measured vitamin D respondents through a blood test. Nearly half of the total respondents who experienced lack of vitamin C, which indicates a lack of exposure to natural sunlight.

In addition, the number of healthy sperm than men who lack vitamin D are included in the category lower than men's vitamin D levels to normal. The ability to absorb calcium from men with high levels of vitamin D has run into difficulty. Mike Tyson tattoo face

The man behind Mike Tyson’s very distinctive face tattoo has sued Warner Brothers Entertainment for copyright infringement over the use of a similar piece of body art in “The Hangover Part II,” the Hollywood Reporter reports.

As a trailer for the upcoming film shows, Stu (Ed Helms) wakes up in Bangkok and is horrified to find a tattoo very similar to the boxer’s on his face. Artist S. Victor Whitmill claims in his lawsuit that he was never “asked for permission for, and has never consented to, the use, reproduction or creation of a derivative work based on his original tattoo,” the New York Times reported.

Warner Bros. responded to the lawsuit Friday, saying in a brief that “the very copyrightability of tattoos is a novel issue.”

“There is no legal precedent for Plaintiff's radical claim that he is entitled, under the Copyright Act, to control the use of a tattoo that he created on the face of another human being,” the brief continued.

There’s also the issue of money. Warner Bros. said an injunction blocking the film’s release would have dire financial consequences for the studio and the 3,600 theaters planning to show the movie.

Tyson played himself in the first “Hangover” film and will make an appearance in the sequel. Helms told Entertainment Weekly that Tyson had no idea about the use of his tattoo in the sequel, but he “was so cool about it” when he found out.

So will this whole inky kerfuffle affect Friday’s release date? Maybe. A hearing in federal court is scheduled for Monday. Check back later to finalize your Memorial Day movie plans.

Until the end he was no longer able to face alone, and eventually die. However, you need to distinguish the meaning of loneliness and solitude. According to Emily White in his book, Lonely, lonely makes a person feel confused, sad, and spend energy. Though feeling lonely, but a person can only take the time to move itself. While the desired solitude really makes a person feel peaceful, creative, and strengthens.

When you feel lonely being away from family, to live a long distance relationship with a partner, being a single parent, or indeed losing friends because of marriage or work in another city, there are several ways you can do to overcome loneliness.

One of the easiest ways to reduce the loneliness is to keep myself busy. Caring for others, whether by caring for children or nephews, keep animals, or teaching, will keep you busy so as to alleviate loneliness. You also can offer themselves as volunteers in the neighborhood a place of worship, special schools, shelters, foundations, and others. If you love to write, why not try to create a blog?

Lack of sleep, with any cause, can decrease mood, making it easier to fall ill, and spent energy. So, this problem needs to be addressed urgently.

4. Know what's missing in your life.
According to the White experience, making many plans with her friends did not reduce the sense of loneliness. "All I want is a quiet presence of others," he said. He longed to have someone accompany him on the move at home. The more you understand what you do not have, the more likely that you find a solution.

5. Make a commitment to interact with others.

If you realize that the sense of loneliness that affects you in that way, take steps to fix it.

Better nutrition of fresh milk

It seemed no one doubted the nutritional value contained in the milk. Milk is a source of protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals that need to be consumed to meet nutritional needs of the family. However, the milk becomes inadequate food consumption if not handled properly. Currently the market is the variety of dairy products, some are in the form of powder, condensed milk or fresh milk. However, sweetened condensed milk is not recommended for daily consumption because of high sugar content.

Fresh milk, according to Dr. Samuel Oetoro, SpGK from Semanggi Clinic, has advantages over sweetened condensed milk or powdered milk because processing is not excessive so that fewer nutrients wasted. "Fresh milk, both milk-pasteurized or UHT (ultrahigh temperature), both have advantages of high nutritional value. In addition, milk ready to drink milk flavor is more pronounced," he said. While milk powder, which is the processing of liquid milk is dried, according to Dr. Samuel, will lose some nutrients. "Indeed, in this day and age plus milk powder, nutrition wasted in processing will be added again but,. If you want to vote choice, naturally fresh milk," he said.

However, the milk powder has the advantage of durable and practical for portability. In the meantime, if you prefer fresh milk purchased directly from farmers, Dr Samuel reminded the importance of seeking a safe source of milk. "Although it is natural, but select farms that maintain the quality of its products Consider whether pet food containing a contaminant or not." He said.

Scientists discover 10 new planet in the Milky Way galaxy

Scientists discover 10 new planet in the Milky Way galaxy, Ten new planets "floating" through the galaxies found in an international team of astronomers led by New Zealand scientists. Tenth Jupiter-sized planet that is a new discovery in the history of the Milky Way. The present invention uses software developed by computer scientists Massey University, Wellington, Australia. "They are the giant planets in our galaxy, about the size of Jupiter turned out. That submarine is a tenth planet somewhere in between us and the stars," said Ian Bond, an Astro Physics, recently. Planets are believed located about two-thirds of the centers of galaxies, located about 25,000 light years.

If they are visible to the naked eye, the planets will be dark, because they do not emit light. This planet can only be removed from the solar system since the meeting of gravity close to other planets or stars. Most likely new planets grow from collapsing ball of gas and dust, but do not have the mass to ignite the fuel and produce starlight alone. These findings led the researchers beraharap free floating Earth-sized planet could support life. Although until now the possibility was small, the planet yet detected.

Iceland's main airport closed amid volcano eruption

REYKJAVIK, Iceland – Iceland closed its main international airport and canceled domestic flights Sunday as a powerful volcanic eruption sent a plume of ash, smoke and steam 12 miles (20 kilometers) into the air.
Iceland's main airport closed amid volcano eruption
The eruption was far larger than one a year ago that caused international travel chaos — but scientists said it was unlikely to have the same widespread effect.

University of Iceland geophysicist Magnus Tumi Gudmundsson said the eruption of the Grimsvotn volcano was "much bigger and more intensive than Eyjafjallajokull," the volcano whose April 2010 eruption shut Europe's airspace for five days.

"There is a very large area in southeast Iceland where there is almost total darkness and heavy fall of ash," he said. "But it is not spreading nearly as much. The winds are not as strong as they were in Eyjafjallajokull."
He said the ash is coarser than in last year's eruption, falling to the ground more quickly.

The ash plunged areas near the volcano into darkness and covered buildings, cars and fields in a thick layer of gray soot Sunday. Civil protection workers urged residents to wear masks and stay indoors.

Airport and air traffic control operator ISAVIA said Keflavik airport, the country's main hub, was closed at 0830 GMT (4:30 a.m. EDT), and would stay shut for the rest of the day.
Spokeswoman Hjordis Gudmundsdottir said the ash plume was covering Iceland, but "the good news is that it is not heading to Europe."

She said the ash was blowing northwest toward Greenland instead.
Trans-Atlantic flights were being diverted away from Iceland, and there was no indication the eruption would cause the widespread travel disruption triggered last year by ash from Eyjafjallajokull.
In April 2010, officials closed the continent's air space for five days, fearing the ash could harm jet engines. Some 10 million travelers were stranded.

The Grimsvotn volcano, which lies under the uninhabited Vatnajokull glacier about 120 miles (200 kilometers) east of the capital, Reykjavik, began erupting Saturday for the first time since 2004.
Gudmundsson said the new eruption was 10 times as powerful as that one, which lasted for several days and briefly disrupted international flights. He said the eruption was Grimsvotn's largest for 100 years.
Grimsvotn also erupted in 1998, 1996 and 1993. The eruptions have lasted between a day and several weeks.

Sparsely populated Iceland is one of the world's most volcanically active countries and eruptions are frequent. Grimsvotn and Iceland's other major volcanoes lie on the Atlantic Rift, the meeting of the Euro and American continental plates.
Eruptions often cause local flooding from melting glacier ice, but rarely cause deaths.
Gudmundsson said it was hard to predict how long the eruption would last, but there were signs it might be slowing.

"There are some signs the eruption plume is getting lower now," he said. "We may be seeing the first sign that it is starting to decline.
"In 2 or 3 days the worst should be over."

Woody Allen Film Stars Michael Sheen, Rachel McAdams Talk Love, New Movie

Woody Allen's new film, "Midnight in Paris," seeks to understand romance vs. reality, pitting fleeting relationships in golden era dreams against the reluctantly accepted crush of convenience and safety in modern times.

Introduced to mismatched couples operating in different dimensions, the audience quickly sees that the antagonists, the harsh realists played by Michael Sheen and Rachel McAdams, are perfect for each other, if only not for ill-fitting entanglements.

Interesting, then, that Sheen and McAdams, in real life so different from their characters, are now dating; the pair recently admitted their relationship while debuting "Midnight in Paris" at Cannes Film Festival. Speaking to HitFix, they discussed their new film, its messages and characters, as well as working with its legendary director, Woody Allen.

Ilustration

As you may have learned from one of the 2,000 billboards worldwide, May 21, 2011, is Judgment Day, upon which the righteous – which totals 3 percent of humanity – will be whisked away to the sweet hereafter, leaving the rest of us to weather five months of extreme natural disasters until Oct. 21, whereupon God destroys the entire universe and everyone left in it.

At least that's what Harold Camping says. The head of Family Radio broadcasting network, which boasts 150 outlets in the United States, has what his website calls "infallible, absolute proof" that there's no point in making plans for Memorial Day weekend. It goes like this:

Camping says that because Jesus was crucified on Friday, April 1, 33 AD, and that it takes exactly 365.2422 days for the earth to complete one orbit of the sun, we can conclude that, on April 1, 2011, Jesus was crucified exactly 722,449.07 days ago. Add 51 days to this to get to May 1, and you get a figure of 722,500.07.

Round that down to the nearest integer, and you get 722,500, which is an important number because it is the square of 5 x 17 x 10 . The number five, says Camping, represents atonement. Ten represents completeness, and 17 represents heaven. Multiply all these together – twice – and you get 722,500. Therefore the apocalypse kicks off on Saturday, May 21.

Skeptics of Camping's method might ask why the date of the end of the world is linked to that of Jesus' crucifixion, why the numbers five, 10, and 17 represent what Camping claims they represent, why they should be multiplied together, why they should then be squared, and, for that matter, why the Bible would contain esoteric numerological references predicting the end of the world in the first place. They could also point out that April 1, 33 AD was actually a Wednesday, and that, under Camping's method, April 1, 2011 gets counted twice.

Others use different methods to calculate the last day. For example, Dec. 21, 2012 marks the end of the 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, leading some people – particularly those who believe that the dating systems of pre-Columbian Americans can predict events hundreds of years in the future – to believe that the world will end on that date.

South korea trial Somali pirates

South Korea (ROK) will hold a session of five Somali pirates in the town of Busan on Monday (5/23/2011). Five pirates were arrested in a dramatic operation in the Indian Ocean pernyerbuan four months ago. They have five charges, including robbery, kidnapping and attempted murder. The pirates had threatened sentence of life imprisonment.

In recent years, the action of the Somali pirates continue to rise. In fact, the waters of Somalia is one of the world's busiest shipping lane. Actually a lot that can be pinned by a pirate ship. However, most of the freed because there is no state judge. The day before trial, to tighten security in Busan. About 100 anti-riot police on alert at the Busan District Criminal Court. Only a few people who get permits to enter the courtroom. They, also a journalist who covered the trial, must pass through metal detectors, said court spokesman, Jeon Ji-hwan.

"We do our best to maintain security and order because the trial is an international spotlight," he said. Unusual aspect of this trial is a jury panel consisting of 12 persons. They are entitled to file a decision. However, judges do not have to follow the advice. One pirate named Husseen Abdulahi Maxamuud pleaded guilty to all charges. Verdict against him would be read on 1 June. While the verdict for four colleagues will read on Friday (27/05/2011). Navy special forces stormed a freighter Samho Jewelry South Korea on 21 January. Pirates seized the ship for six days. Besides successfully captured five pirates, South Korean special forces also killed eight other pirates.

The crew, which numbered 21 people, survived despite the ship's captain, Hae Seok-kyun (58), hit by gunfire. After experiencing some operations, the condition is now stable Seok. Seok will provide written testimony to be read out in court. According to the investigation team, some pirates are also involved in the hijacking of another ship in South Korea, Samho Dream. The ship weighs 300,000 tons, and 24 crew freed by ransom 9 million U.S. dollars (USD 76.8 billion). Although piracy in Somali waters often happens, the perpetrators are rarely brought to justice. Last March, the United States court sentenced to life imprisonment plus 80 years to five Somali pirates. They attacked U.S. Navy ships stationed in the anti-piracy patrol.

A month later, a Somali pirate sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role merchant ship and crew hostage for 71 days. In early May, the Spanish courts fell into 439 years in prison for two Somali pirates hijacked a fishing vessel in 2009. Meanwhile, the Malaysian army arrested seven suspected pirates who seize Malaysian tanker. In that country, they are under sentence of death.

Driving on facebook, Saudi woman detained

Saudi Arabian authorities have arrested a woman who campaigned against the ban on driving for his nation, as reported by AP, on Saturday (05/21/2011).

Together with a group of other women, Manal Al-Sharif to make a page up called "Teach me to drive so I can protect myself." To complement it, Al-Sharif upload their pictures behind the wheel at the top and the video was learning to drive through Youtube. "This is a volunteer campaign to help children in this country learn to drive. At least we can use it in emergencies," he said in the video. According to human rights activist, Walid Abou al-Kheir, Al-Sharif was detained by the Islamic police, but released several hours later.

Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that forbids women to drive a car. Rules that apply both to citizens of Saudi women and foreign women. The ban makes Saudi families employ a driver. Anyone who can not afford to hire a driver must rely on male family members to drive them to school, work, shop, and went into the kitchen. Campaigns that encourage Al-Sharif and his colleagues focused on the importance of driving ability for women, especially for poor families or in an emergency. Al-Sharif to the argument that women are driving closer to the temptation because it lets them mingle with strange men, like police and mechanics.

Indeed, the company al-Sharif, to be driving, women may avoid sexual harassment of drivers, also to maintain the honor. Through too much, they encouraged women to "bulk driving" on June 17. More than 12,000 people who open an account that provides support for this movement. To encourage his people, Al-Sharif shows you how to drive, while colleague recording the scene. When driving, Al-Sharif said that not all Saudi women to be "queen" that is able to hire a driver. Emphasizing, capable of driving can save lives, even the honor of women.

Al-Sharif said that learning to drive at age 30 when he was in New Hampshire, USA. "Sometimes we're embarrassed when I could not get a taxi to take us to the office," he said. He stressed that the movement was not to challenge the government or against the law. "We just want to live as citizens as a whole, with no shame attached to the driver every day We're just. Want to get the simplest of our rights."

10 Bomb shakes Baghdad

As many as 10 bombs destroying Baghdad and its surroundings on Sunday (05/22/2011). This attack killed 13 people and wounding 53 others, as published in the Iraqi Interior Ministry official.

At least 10 bombs exploded when Iraq started to go to work and serve as a reminder that Iraq still face danger even if the level of violence has begun to decline. At least seven policemen were killed in the attack in a row. The rebels often target police as security with the aim of destroying stability. The worst attack occurred on Sunday morning in the town of Taji, located 20 kilometers from Baghdad. Some police check the location of the bomb that exploded when a convoy of U.S. military vehicles passed. That's when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowd. Five policemen and two civilians were killed in the blast. While 19 people were injured, including 15 police.

Several hours earlier, a series of explosions rocked Baghdad. Most of the location of the explosion is a Shiite neighborhood. The first bomb, around 07.00 am, exploded in a parking lot on the Sadr City area and wounded five people and destroying several cars. "We were awakened by the explosion Glass shattered the front window of our house .. My sister hit by broken glass," said Namiq Khazal, who lives about 150 yards from the point of explosion. "On the way to the hospital, I saw many people injured and damaged cars," he added. A few minutes later, still in Sadr City, a bomb hidden under a pile of garbage exploded. One person was killed and five others injured.

While in the field of Bayaa, the morning calm broken when five bombs exploded in turn. The first bomb exploded targeting a police patrol. A minute later another bomb exploded in the shops in the area. Followed by two bombs planted on the highway. Finally, a vehicle bomb exploded at an intersection. A series of bombings in this Bayaa killed five people, including two policemen. While 15 others were injured. Until now there has been no immediate claim for responsibility for the bombings.

The youngest King married student 20 years

Year 2011 seems to be the year of the royal family wedding. After the second heir to the British throne, Prince William, married to Kate Middleton, now turn to the Kingdom of Bhutan who carry large gawe. their king, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, soon married his girlfriend, 20-year student named Jetsun Pema. Weddings are planned to be held in October this year.
King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his wife Jetsun Pema.

"As a king, now is the time I got married. Through a variety of considerations, I decided that the marriage occurred this year," said the new king 31 years. The announcement was delivered at the opening session of parliament, on Friday (20/05/2011). "His name Jetsun Pema. Although still young, he has a warm personality and good nature," said the king is a graduate of Oxford. The king's youngest, nicknamed the "Prince of Dreams" smiled when she announced the names of candidates who studied at Regent College, London, England, that. The announcement drew applause from the MPs. Indeed, applause at a formal event etiquette breach. In a small country on the slopes of the Himalayas, show happiness in public is considered impolite.

"People probably thought I should queens highly educated, beautiful, and the best," local media quoted the speech of King Wangchuck. "Jetsun Pema is a good girl who is very supportive and I believe him I did not know people's opinions about him, however, in my opinion, he has all the necessary qualities every woman ..." Wangchuck said Pema and long enough to know the girl with him on several visits to a number of areas in the country. Although the king married, marriage will not be done in luxury. "There's a celebration, but Noble asked the government to not make big plans or big celebration Besides lack of resources (in Bhutan), and His Majesty wants. More intimate and personal celebration," said Dorji Wangchuck.

King Wangchuck is the fifth since the Kingdom of Bhutan was established in 1907. He is the son of third wife and oldest child. He was crowned king in November 2008 after his father, Jigme Wangchuck Syngye, abdicate the throne. Bhutan Royal Family is a very respected, even after the remote kingdom was turned into a royal berkonstitusi. Wangchuck is one of the supporters of democracy in that country. For some time, Bhutan has no electricity, roads, schools and even hospitals. In 1999, the state lifted the ban on cable television and the Internet. However, until now in this country there are no traffic lights. Bhutan Royal Family is very closed and not many people know, including about marriage in the kingdom. One of them, a married father of Wangchuck's four children. Although marriage has been going on for years, a new official celebration was held in 1988.

Indonesia's Govt Projects Growth at 6.5 - 6.9 Pct

The government has projected the domestic economy to expand by a range of 6.5-6.9 percent in 2012, or slightly higher than the economic growth forecast of 6.3 percent set under the 2011 state budget.

Strong domestic consumption, solid investment inflows and improving export performance are expected to remain the engine of economic growth next year. The improving export performance will be inseparable from the good prospects of the world economy after it saw years of slowdown.

"In 2012, the government believes that the global economy will be getting more prospective. For Indonesia, it will of course have a good impact on the national economy. Therefore, we are optimistic that the economy will accelerate to a level of 6.5-6.9 percent," Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said when explaining the frame of macro economy and fiscal policy of 2012 at a plenary meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Friday.

To support the attainment of the 2012 economic growth, Agus Martowardojo said the government also had adopted a number of strategic policies, including increasing the competitive edge of domestic industry, strengthening domestic consumption and improving the investment climate both in the financial sector and the real sector.

In addition, he said the government would also pay special attention to the development of infrastructure facilities both in urban and rural areas. Among the sectors that will be high on the list of the government’s priorities next year will be energy and electricity, transportation, communication, health, and education.

"The government will strive to increase funding support from banks or non-bank financial institutions, capital market, foreign and domestic capital investment, capital spending from the central and regional governments, state-owned and regional government-owned companies," Agus said.

Despite the good prospects of the economic performance in 2012, a lot of global and domestic challenges still had yet to be monitored closely, he said. Among the global challenges were unequal global economic recovery, continuing crisis in Europe, global currency war and potential hike in the world oil price that would affect inflation.

"On the domestic side, fundamental improvement is needed in the investment climate to increase direct investment performance to support real sector performance and open access to new employment," he said.

For its part, the government would strengthen the country’s economic fundamentals by creating policies that would support strong economic expansion and encouraging sustainable macro-economic stability.

"The government would also conduct total evaluation and create innovations and new policies in various economic dimensions, such as on regulatory aspects, business procedures, legal, taxation, land acquisition, bureaucratic performance and infrastructure conditions," he said.

Deputy Minister of National Development Planning Lukita Dinasyah Tuwo said recently the Indonesian economy might grow 7 percent in 2012. He said the current economic conditions were very conducive to the acceleration of national economic growth.

Among the indicators of conducive economic conditions were rising per capita income hitting a record high of US$3,005 and foreign exchange reserves rising to US$105 billion. Lukita said 2012 was one of the gateways to accelerate and expand the national economic growth, adding 2009 and 2010 were the years of national economic recovery from the global economic crisis and 2011 was the year of speeding up the national economic growth.

Bank Indonesia Governor Darmin Nasution said early this year he believed the prospect of the Indonesian economy would remain strong, with gross domestic product (GDP) expected to reach 6.3 percent in 2011 and 2012.

"The GDP in 2011 and 2012 is expected to grow at a brisk 6.3 percent each, particularly fueled by domestic demand and accelerated investment," he said.

Bank Indonesia has predicted the Indonesian economic growth will show an upward trend until 2015, from 6.0-6.5 percent in 2011, to 6.1-6.6 percent in 2012, 6.2-7.1 percent in 2013, 6.3-7.3 percent in 2014, and 6.5-7.5 percent in 2015.

Head of Bank Indonesia Monetary Policy Bureau Sugeng said recently the high growth must be accompanied by the government’s efforts to reduce dependence on imported goods so that the inflation rate accompanying the growth would not be high.

In its annual economic report published recently, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines, will grow 5.5 percent in 2011 and 5.7 percent in 2012. Indonesia and Vietnam are expected to expand more than 6 percent for the two-year period.

PT Bank Muamalat Finance and Operations Director Hendiarto has predicted the Indonesian economy would continue to pick up in 2012 thanks to rising foreign investment in the domestic capital market. "I am optimistic that Indonesia will remain an attractive place to invest in view of the high reference interest rate," he said.

The rupiah’s strengthening which left far behind the government-set target of Rp9,250 per dollar suggested that foreign investors had great interests in investing in Asia, Indonesia in particular. The Indonesian economy grew by 6.5 percent in the first quarter of 2011, particularly driven by strong consumption and exports.

Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said on Thursday the national economic growth was lower than that of Vietnam 6.8 percent, Singapore 8.5 percent, and China 9.7 percent but it was higher than that of South Korea 4.2 percent.

The minister said the first-quarter economic growth was 55.7 percent contributed by public consumption. Meanwhile, investment grew 31.3 percent, exports 27.5 percent and imports 29.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

He said foreign investors’ confidence in the Indonesian economy remained high as reflected by strong foreign capital inflows. Positive sentiments in the global stock exchanges had caused the share composite index (IHGS) to strengthen and prompted the rupiah to record the highest appreciation among the regional currencies.

"In April alone, capital inflows in the state bond market reached Rp9.85 trillion, the share market Rp17.5 trillion and SBI (Bank Indonesia Certificates) Rp9.71 trillion," he said.

Meanwhile, acting chief of the Fiscal Policy Board at the Finance Ministry Bambang Brodjonegoro said the balance of payment would still record a significant surplus in the second quarter of 2011. The surplus would originate both from current transactions and capital and financial transactions.

He stated the current transactions in the first quarter of 2011 recorded a surplus of US$1.9 billion and the figure was expected to reach US$4.4 billion throughout this year. The capital and financial transactions meanwhile recorded a surplus of US$6.2 billion in the first quarter of 2011, fueled by foreign direct investment and portfolio investment.

Oil Tanker Terror Hijacks Easy, Attacks Complex

Supertankers — the hulking, slow-moving ships that transport half the world's oil — have few defenses against terrorist hijackers like those envisioned by Osama bin Laden, security experts said Saturday.

Al-Qaida operatives with enough training could easily manage to capture ships carrying millions of gallons of oil or liquefied natural gas. All they would have to do is imitate the tactics of Somali pirates who already use small boats to overpower tanker crews in mostly remote locations, the experts said. Few supertankers have armed guards, due to gun import laws and the risk of accidental gunfire igniting explosive cargos.

But once terrorists captured a supertanker, it wouldn't be so easy to sow the economic chaos and costly environmental destruction bin Laden desired and outlined in secret files captured from his Pakistan hideout. It's actually extremely complex to blow up a supertanker or even sink it near heavily guarded oil shipping lanes like the Suez Canal, the Panama Canal or the Strait of Hormuz at the end of the Persian Gulf.

"It would only be a risk if they could sail it undetected and had worked out how to blow it up, which is pretty complicated," said Graeme Gibbon-Brooks, the head of Dryad Maritime Intelligence.

The FBI and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a confidential warning to authorities and the energy industry Friday that al-Qaida was seeking information on the size and construction of tankers.

The newly revealed plot showed that while bin Laden was scheming about the next strike to kill thousands of Americans, he also believed an attack on the oil industry in "non-Muslim waters" could create a worldwide economic panic that would send oil prices soaring and hurt Westerners at the gas pump.

Other bin Laden documents revealed that the terror group identified New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Chicago as important cities that should be attacked. Al-Qaida also identified key dates for those attacks, including the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, Christmas, July 4th and during Obama's State of the Union address in January.

Oil already is a known target. On Saturday, a truck tanker carrying oil for NATO forces in Afghanistan exploded in northwestern Pakistan as people tried to siphon off fuel, killing 15. Fourteen other NATO oil trucks were damaged in a bombing at a nearby border town, but no one was hurt.

The hundreds of seafaring oil tankers that travel across the planet daily are theoretically capable of igniting massive fires with the capability for extensive destruction.

Intelligence gathered from bin Laden's hideout revealed that al-Qaida realized the tankers would have to be boarded so explosives could be planted inside them. Security experts say, however, blowing them up would be difficult because the tankers have double hulls and compartmentalized holds that prevent oil spills in groundings and can withstand direct hits from rocket propelled grenades.

Plus, getting enough explosives aboard the tankers would mean using more speedboats than Somali hijackers normally do to take over the ships and hold crews hostage, Gibbon-Brooks said.

Somali pirates have already captured five supertankers, proving that men with little training and basic weapons can easily seize the giant ships. Supertankers move slowly when fully loaded, can be longer than three football fields and generally only have around 20 unarmed crew onboard.

Although the size of the ships makes them vulnerable, their slow speed also makes it harder for terrorists to sneak one into a port or a narrow shipping passage. Ships are closely tracked via satellite and any unexplained deviations from their travel plans would immediately raise alarms.

While al-Qaida's most brazen sea attack was on the USS Cole in Yemen, the explosives that knocked a hole in the destroyer and killed 17 sailors in 2000 would not sink a double-hulled oil tanker. Other marine attacks have been botched. An attempt to blow up the USS The Sullivans warship failed in 2000 when the plotters overloaded their speedboat with explosives and it sank en route to the mission.

The 2002 suicide bombing of a tanker off the coast of Yemen damaged the ship but didn't sink it. And last year a suicide bomber only slightly damaged the Japanese tanker M. Star in the Straits of Hormuz, which handles 40 percent of the world's tanker traffic. An obscure al-Qaida-linked group claimed responsibility.

After those attempts, al-Qaida decided attackers have to board a ship and blow it up from the inside, according to documents seized by U.S. special forces from the compound where bin Laden was killed nearly three weeks ago.

Despite the difficulties, warnings abound that several groups have the capability to pull off a terror attack on a supertanker, especially in Asian waters. The al-Qaida-affiliated Abu Sayyaf militia remotely detonated a bomb on a ferry in Manila Bay in the Philippines in 2004, igniting an inferno that killed 116 people.

Small cargo barges and fishing boats have been attacked by militants, some of whom have taken diving lessons that Filipino authorities suspect were preludes to maritime attacks. In March 2010, Singapore's navy raised its security alert, warning that an unspecified terrorist group was planning attacks on oil tankers and other vessels in the Malacca Strait, which separates Malaysia from the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

While authorities fear that al-Qaida may link up with the Somali pirates who have become so adept at hijacking cargo ships, experts say the chance of any such alliance is remote because the pirates are in the hijacking business for the multimillion-dollar ransoms they get from holding ship crews hostage. If the pirates started working with terrorists, that could seriously hurt their business, said Roger Middleton, a piracy expert with London's Chatham House think tank.

"They're multimillionaires running a very important business and don't want to see that jeopardized by too much politics," he said.

To counter attacks, tanker owners have begun putting barbed wire around ship guardrails and installing firehoses that can launch high pressure jets of water at attackers. They are also installing bulletproof glass around ship bridges and accommodation quarters, a vessel's two most vulnerable areas, said Chris Austen, the head of Maritime and Underwater Security Consultants.

Some shipping companies also insist their tankers travel through pirate-infested waters only in convoys, added Crispian Cuss, program director at Olive Group, one of the biggest security companies working in the Middle East.

If hijackers decide they can't get onboard and steer a ship toward a target without detection, they might try to seize a vessel in port — but that would be much risker given the global port security measures in effect in the last decade.

The al-Qaida plot found in bin Laden's hideout also mentioned attacking oil facilities, but most oil terminals are considered strategic installations — meaning they are protected by roving coast guard boats, radar, divers who conduct inspections and heavy security. Brazil, for example, is justifying the cost of developing a nuclear submarine to protect its vast offshore oil fields.

Security levels vary, but the ports that terrorists value the most generally have the heaviest protection, Cuss said. "A port in Sudan is not going to have the same level of security as Houston," he said.

The latest plots show that bin Laden was clearly thinking about the economic consequences of his attacks and might even have been planning a devastating oil spill, said Tim Hart, a maritime security analyst at Maritime and Underwater Security Consultants. That means Western security forces might have to take strong action sometime at sea.

In 2007, a Japanese tanker was hijacked carrying 40,000 tons of benzene, a highly explosive chemical. Intelligence officials feared at first that terrorists might try to crash the tanker into an offshore oil platform or use it as a gigantic bomb. In the end, it proved to be just another attack by pirates seeking ransom.

Naval forces were, however, ready attack the ship and blow it up at sea if it approached populated areas, a Western diplomat confirmed, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.

How to Stay Healthy at Work

You’re probably reading this at a desk in an office. The simple act of sitting down and staring at a screen might seem harmless, even enjoyable, and yet reams of research show that sedentary jobs are making us fat, giving us sore backs, and triggering heart attacks.

Dr John Tickell, a medical doctor and bestselling author of Laughter, Sex, Vegetables & Fish, has spent over 25 years researching what it takes to live and work well. I asked him for his top five tips on staying healthy in the office.

His first tip is to “climb 200 stairs every day. It’s good for your thighs and back and heart and lungs”.

Several years ago, there was a study conducted at the University Hospital of Geneva. Rather than catching an elevator, employees were required to use the stairs for 12 weeks. By the end of the experiment, their results were impressive. Their lung capacity had gone up by 8.6 per cent; their cholesterol had reduced by 3.9 per cent; their body fat had decreased by 1.7 per cent; and their waist circumference had gone down by 1.8 per cent.

Dr John’s second tip is to “go to the water cooler every 30 minutes and have half a glass of water.”

(On the topic of water, I saw Tapped last week, an eye-opening documentary that investigates the evils of the bottled water industry. And there are definitely evils. For example, according to the Aussie website, Go Tap, set up by the founders of Planet Ark, half a billion dollars is spent every year on bottled water in Australia, and this generates the equivalent number in greenhouse gases of 13,000 cars on the road. Only a third of those bottles are recycled.)

After a glass of water, Dr John suggests doing 10 backwards shoulder rolls. Why? Because 98 per cent of the activities an office worker performs are in front of the body. A consequence of such an imbalance, he says, is “a crooked and bent and painful spine,” unless simple exercises are done to counteract it.

My personal favourite is his third tip: “Hug someone you love before you leave home.” He placed special emphasis on the word before.

The benefit of a hug can be found within oxytocin, otherwise known as the ‘love hormone’. In research published in the Psychosomatic Medicine journal a few years ago, physical affection was found to increase the presence of oxytocin in the body. The same study showed that a higher rate of this hormone resulted in lower stress levels and reduced blood pressure. That’s why a hug before work gets people pumped for the day ahead.

Tip number four: “Tell someone in the office every day ‘well done’ on something they did last week or this week. It makes people feel better, and better people make better companies.”

A survey last year of 3000 employees by the Australian Institute of Management revealed that two-in-five of the respondents felt unappreciated by their boss. So, if they can’t get praise from their boss, they may as well get it from their co-workers. As experts attested in a blog post last month, being recognised for good work is one of the biggest drivers of motivation and performance.

Dr John’s fifth tip is to take two deep breaths every two hours, and “think about your next 3-day break away with your partner or your spouse or your lover and plan it and book it".

"No wonder 40 per cent of marriages break down; do the things you used to do when you fell in love.”

At the very least, the excitement of looking forward to a short break makes a tough work environment a little more bearable.

Often, workplace wellness conversations focus on the safety aspect. It’s about preventing strains from poor ergonomics or preventing injuries from workplace hazards. Rarely is the conversation about drinking water or giving a hug or saying thanks or planning a break. You know, all the stuff that protects the mind.

Marketing

Marketing is "the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large."Marketing is a product or service selling related overall activities. It generates the strategy that underlies sales techniques, business communication, and business developments. It is an integrated process through which companies build strong customer relationships and create value for their customers and for themselves.

Marketing is used to identify the customer, satisfy the customer, and keep the customer. With the customer as the focus of its activities, it can be concluded that marketing management is one of the major components of business management. Marketing evolved to meet the stasis in developing new markets caused by mature markets and overcapacities in the last 2-3 centuries.[citation needed] The adoption of marketing strategies requires businesses to shift their focus from production to the perceived needs and wants of their customers as the means of staying profitable.[citation needed]

The term marketing concept holds that achieving organizational goals depends on knowing the needs and wants of target markets and delivering the desired satisfactions. It proposes that in order to satisfy its organizational objectives, an organization should anticipate the needs and wants of consumers and satisfy these more effectively than competitors.

Further definitions

Marketing is further defined by the AMA as an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communicating, and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its stakeholders.[4] The term developed from an original meaning which referred literally to going to a market to buy or sell goods or services. Seen from a systems point of view, sales process engineering marketing is "a set of processes that are interconnected and interdependent with other functions,[5] whose methods can be improved using a variety of relatively new approaches."

The Chartered Institute of Marketing defines marketing as "the management process responsible for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements profitably."[6] A different concept is the value-based marketing which states the role of marketing to contribute to increasing shareholder value.[7] In this context, marketing is defined as "the management process that seeks to maximise returns to shareholders by developing relationships with valued customers and creating a competitive advantage."[7]

Marketing practice tended to be seen as a creative industry in the past, which included advertising, distribution and selling. However, because the academic study of marketing makes extensive use of social sciences, psychology, sociology, mathematics, economics, anthropology and neuroscience, the profession is now widely recognized as a science, allowing numerous universities to offer Master-of-Science (MSc) programmes. The overall process starts with marketing research and goes through market segmentation, business planning and execution, ending with pre- and post-sales promotional activities. It is also related to many of the creative arts. The marketing literature is also adept at re-inventing itself and its vocabulary according to the times and the culture.

Browne (2010) reveals that supermarkets intensively research and study consumer behaviour spending millions of dollars. Their aim is to make sure that shoppers leave spending much more that they originally planned. ‘Choice’ examined the theory of trolleyology finding that many shoppers instinctively look to the right when they’re in the supermarket. Supermarkets prey on this biological trait by positioning many expensive impulse buying products to the right of the every checkout. These products consist of the latest DVD’s, magazines, chocolates, expensive batteries and other tempting products that wouldn’t be on your shopping list. Naturally shoppers pick up the items because of the marketing strategies, victimizing there sub-conscience natures.

Supermarket move products around to confuse shoppers, the entry point is another marketing tactic. Consumer psychologist Dr. Paul Harrison (cited in Browne, 2010) states that supermarkets are constantly using different methodologies of selling. One method is performing regular overhauls changing the locations of products all around to break habitual shopping, and break your budget. Harrison also contends that people who are shopping in a counter clockwise direction are likely to spend more money than people shopping in a clockwise direction. Consumer psychologists (cited in Browne, 2010) reported that most people write with their right hand, thus it is a biological trait that people have the tendency of veering to the right when shopping, it is understood that supermarkets capitalize on this fact. Found on the capturing right-hand side are usually appealing products that a shopper might impulsively e.g. an umbrella when the weather is dull.

Customer orientation

A firm in the market economy survives by producing goods that persons are willing and able to buy. Consequently, ascertaining consumer demand is vital for a firm's future viability and even existence as a going concern. Many companies today have a customer focus (or market orientation). This implies that the company focuses its activities and products on consumer demands. Generally, there are three ways of doing this: the customer-driven approach, the market change identification approach and the product innovation approach.

In the consumer-driven approach, consumer wants are the drivers of all strategic marketing decisions. No strategy is pursued until it passes the test of consumer research. Every aspect of a market offering, including the nature of the product itself, is driven by the needs of potential consumers. The starting point is always the consumer. The rationale for this approach is that there is no reason to spend R&D funds developing products that people will not buy. History attests to many products that were commercial failures in spite of being technological breakthroughs.[12]

A formal approach to this customer-focused marketing is known as SIVA[13] (Solution, Information, Value, Access). This system is basically the four Ps renamed and reworded to provide a customer focus. The SIVA Model provides a demand/customer-centric alternative to the well-known 4Ps supply side model (product, price, placement, promotion) of marketing management.

Product          →  Solution
Price          →  Value
Place          →  Access
Promotion    Information

If any of the 4Ps were problematic or were not in the marketing factor of the business, the business could be in trouble and so other companies may appear in the surroundings of the company, so the consumer demand on its products will decrease.
